HOMEWARD with Cree Cornejo

HOMEWARD with Cree Cornejo

I immediately thought of Cree for this series because of the way she speaks to healing (especially with femme bodies) and how it is rooted in so much- from the natural world, to deep compassion, her Mexican heritage, and so much more. Receiving her newsletters at the start of her business Wise Woman Sanctuary, always felt like a big warm hug in themself, and I wanted to share her wisdom and being with you all. I think we can all make space to learn from healers right now.

I have been making this simple recipe for many years now, and every time it hits the spot just right. I thought it would be the perfect recipe for right now with the abundance of wild mushrooms around us (whether or not you choose to forage them, or buy them at your local market/farmers market!).

HOMEWARD: With Gretchen Jones

Gretchen has been a long-time inspiration and someone who I worked with a few years ago in her Critical Conversations sessions through her business Weird SpecialtyI felt called to ask Gretchen to take part in this series as she is a prominent voice for deep change that I align with: economically, environmentally, socially, creatively…and is someone who has her finger truly on the pulse.

It is fun and magical to create these sodas- making the festivity of enjoying it all the more special and celebratory. With a little patience, your dream carbonated libation awaits.

Anti-Racism Resources

A long list of some anti-racism resources for my fellow white and non-Black people out there. Please take a look and choose a few to dig into. Make time for anti-racism work. It is an everyday practice. Not just reading an article, or going to one protest, or posting one thing, or having one conversation…

Fire Cider!

Fire Cider!

Especially in times like the present, there is something said for the healing and symbolism of making concoctions that takes a few weeks to brew and become themself. The care-taking/tending-to aspect of Fire Cider is something that is healing itself. And I think we could all use something right now that gets up excited for the future-even if that is just a few weeks.

A great simple back pocket soup recipe goes a longgg ways- whether on nights you have no idea what to make and can forage in the fridge to throw one together, or as a crowd pleasing side on a warm night. I’ll often make them and put them in a tumbler or mug to sip on alongside my supper or throughout the next day/s. Can be served with a slab of toast and butter or sweet potato fries or lasagna or whatever you’re having for supper! Same with the smoothies. They make a great snack or meal side.
