Part two of the “spaces my vessels have crushes on…” series: places I want to cozy up with a Field Tumbler, a best friend (maybe two), a bottomless something refreshing to sip on…and chat til the cows come home. Because traveling via daydream is also fun.
I have been deeply in awe of the multi faceted works of Ilonka Karasz. She was a Hungarian-American designer born in Hungary in 1896 and later moved to Greenwich Village in NY. Her works ranged from these amazing wooden chairs to New Yorker covers to fabric and textiles to silver and ceramic drinking and eating wares to book covers and much much more.
Krystal’s work with food is incredibly beautiful, while at the same time deeply thought (and action) provoking. I enjoy receiving the recipes she shares just as much as the story and meaning behind them- and I know you will too.
In honor of Black History Month- I would like to celebrate a few of my favorite artists, authors, businesses, educators, and people who inspire me.

During an afternoon off of work this weekend, I decided a wintry cake was needed. There is no spice quite as magical to me than cardamom…so it always seems like my go-to when I am wanting to make something festive.

I immediately thought of Cree for this series because of the way she speaks to healing (especially with femme bodies) and how it is rooted in so much- from the natural world, to deep compassion, her Mexican heritage, and so much more. Receiving her newsletters at the start of her business Wise Woman Sanctuary, always felt like a big warm hug in themself, and I wanted to share her wisdom and being with you all. I think we can all make space to learn from healers right now.
I have been making this simple recipe for many years now, and every time it hits the spot just right. I thought it would be the perfect recipe for right now with the abundance of wild mushrooms around us (whether or not you choose to forage them, or buy them at your local market/farmers market!).
